Your Barnes and Moore leather goods will only get better with age, but being made from a natural material, the leather will require cleaning and nourishing from time to time to keep it in good condition and to ensure a long life.

Vegetable tanned leather

An occasional coating of neatsfoot oil will nourish and maintain your leather and keep it in great condition.

Please note that applying oils may result in slight shade variation to lighter colour leathers.

 Waxed Cotton Bags

Waxed cotton can be cleaned by wiping down with a damp cloth, and can also be re-waxed if required using Halley Stevensons reproofing wax.

Shell Cordovan

Shell Cordovan is a specialist leather and can be cared for using specialist products from the Saphir Médaille d’Or range. Saphir are renowned around the world for their high quality leathercare products.

Metal Hardware

The majority of our hardware is made from solid brass and finished naturally, or in a coated finish.

Natural brass and copper will develop some natural discolouration over time, which is part of the natural process of the material, and adds to the beauty and character of the hardware.

If a more highly polished finish is preferred, simply treat the hardware with a proprietary brass/metal polish and polish with a soft cloth.

Please note: Avoid applying any hardware polish to areas of leather, as this may cause discolouration of the hide.
